Be Protected From Swollen Gums Through Your Saliva
Plaque is one major factor that causes bacteria to build up, producing acids that ,irritates the gums which leads into the gum inflammation, swollen gums and gum disease. Bacteria develops easily with plaque and tartar. Anaerobic bacteria which is responsible for swollen gums and gum disease build their niche in areas that has less oxygen. Saliva is the natural defense of the mouth against bacteria for its high concentrations of oxygens and enzymes that prevents gum disease and swollen gums.
To be protected from bacteria that causes swollen gums, there should be a high level of saliva production. Avoiding factors that causes dry mouth is also necessary in gum disease prevention, such factors may include excessive alcohol intake, coffee, tea, laxatives and stimulants. However, observance of proper oral care should take place too to completely be prevented from swollen gums and gum disease.
